L.A. stalwarts, Corners, just released their new LP Maxed Out On Distractions and hopefully you were lucky enough to catch the record release show last week with the great (and also L.A. residents) Mr. Elevator & The Brain Hotel, Froth, and Wyatt Blair. This LP branches out quite a bit from their earlier garage sounding releases in exchange for some fantastic 80's sounding post-punk and new wave.
The fourth LP has arrived! After being pleasantly surprised with the great Exploded View EP in late 2013, Dreaming Tracks, the new LP from Sea Pinks has made its way to us on CF Records. These guys really put out some of the finest jangle pop out there and this LP packaging is quite impressive. Check it out and get yourself a copy.
Up until now we have only been able to listen to one track off Paul Jacob's new LP, Do It Again, in anticipation of its full release. After anxiously awaiting for months for the Bandcamp page to get updated with the whole LP, this one man monster's new release is finally with us. Go listen, go buy...now. He is a beast, he will blow you away, and he deserves someone to press everything he has done to vinyl.
This one man (Steve Coombs) show out of Madison, WI takes the sounds of 80's electronic greats like Gary Numan down interstellar roads with no map or direction. His latest EP, Far Reaches, includes six tracks that clock in at less than 15 minutes, but it's a trip worth taking. The EP came out in February from Castle Face. After listening to this it may lead you to check out his 2012 debut LP, Dark Radar, on Ty's God? label.
Some of the funnest punk rock that you'll come across. Tee-Tahs out of Edmonton, Canada and their debut Buzzkill. You can only get their cassette on tour so grab the digital if you can't get out to see them.
Peoples Temple released their third LP, Musical Garden, earlier this year and whadd'ya know...we already have a new one coming and there's reason to be excited. It's called Weekends Time and it's a stomper. It includes nine brand new tracks that include two Ariel Pink covers. Check out a couple of tracks off the LP to be released 9/25 on State Capital Records.
Two years ago Moon Glyph released 150 copies of Halasan Bazar's psychedelic opus How To Ever Be Happy on cassette. Two years later, Moon Glyph has teamed up with French label Requiem Pour Un Twister to remaster and re-issue this fabulous psychedelic album on vinyl. It is a phenomenal creative output that is well deserving of this vinyl release. Cheers to all parties involved.
The new Famous Class 7" has been released and this pairing features Parquet Courts on the A-side and the band's choice of Future Punx on the B-side. It's always worth buying since they feature great bands, proceeds to go a worthy cause, and the artwork is always exceptional. Future Punx features members of Parquet Courts, Fergus & Geronimo, and The Keepsies and they definitely steal the show on this release with 'Spike Train' and their 80's, synth heavy sound. They have one other release for 999 / Livin' In A Movie that was only available digitally in September of 2013 that is also worth checking out. Let's hope they keep putting stuff out.
